# The Prize Card Draft

At the conclusion of the season the [Annual Prize Card Draft](/gameday-squad/off-platform-features/annual-prize-card-drafts.md) will take place, and all winning coaches will be contacted via email regarding their selections and attending the draft live.

### Prize Card changes from the 2026/27 Prize Card Draft

From the 2026/27 AUS Basketball Prize Card Draft onwards, all new Prize Cards will:

* carry a **1.4x** multiplier
* carry a **$700k** salary cap hit
* be **untradeable** and unable to be sold on the Transfer Market

This only applies to Prize Cards issued from the 2026/27 draft onwards. Existing Prize Cards are not affected and keep their current multiplier, salary cap value and tradability.

**Draft picks:** Prize Card picks and spots in the draft cannot be traded. Trading picks was allowed in previous drafts, but it is no longer allowed from this draft onwards.

## What is a Prize Card?

Prize Cards are player cards that enter the GameDay Squad platform only by being awarded to coaches for where they finish on a seasonal leaderboard. You cannot pack one. The only way a Prize Card exists is because a coach earned the right to select it.

**Key details**

* **Salary cap impact:** each card carries a **$700k** salary cap hit.
* **Multiplier:** Prize Cards come with a **1.4x** multiplier.
* **One player, one card:** there is a limit of one Prize Card per player per season. If the coach who won Champion selects a given player, no other coach can select that same player.
* **Artwork:** the winning coach's team name, their position on the ladder and the season won are printed on the card and never change.
* **Transfer Market:** Prize Cards from the 2026/27 draft onwards are untradeable and cannot be sold. Prize Cards from earlier seasons can still be bought, sold and traded like any other card.
* **Designs:** card designs are updated every season.
* **Positions:** Prize Cards are subject to position changes between seasons.

Every competition sets its own Prize Card limits. In AUS Basketball, Classic, Challenger and Hero Ball allow a maximum of 1, Champion and Anything Goes have no limit, and Starter, Contender and Swordplay Homegrown Talent do not allow them at all.

**Important Information**

* There are 36 Prize Cards on offer for the 2026/27 season, going to at least 35 unique coaches.
* **The Fez Rule**: coaches will have a maximum of 1 Prize Card selection across all competitions. In the event of multiple placings from a single coach, they will be awarded the highest pick they have in the draft. All coaches will then move up 1 place in the draft. The next highest ranked coach from either the Champion, Challenger or Classic competitions (in the order of 11th Champion, 11th Challenger, 11th Classic, 12th Champion and so on) will then move into the draft to ensure 36 Prize Card selections are made.
* **The GDS Cup sits outside the Fez Rule.** The GDS Cup winner's selection does not count toward the one card limit, so a coach who wins the GDS Cup can still earn a second Prize Card through another competition.
* Coaches who forfeit a Prize Card selection due to the 1 card limit will receive an additional 10 Player Elite Pack for every forfeited Prize Card.
