# Positions

Get in position!

**What are the positions?**

All players on the GameDay Squad platform for Football are allocated 1 of 4 positions every season. These positions are:

* Goalkeeper (GK)
* Defender (DEF)
* Midfielder (MID)
* Forward (FWD)

Players are allocated positions based on where they spend most of their time playing on the pitch.

**Do positions change through the season?**

No. A player may change position for their club during the year, but the position allocated to their Player Card will not change for the remainder of that season. Player positions are reviewed annually by the GameDay Squad team and Player Cards are updated before the start of the following season.

**Does GameDay Squad have dual positions?**

No. There are no dual positions on GameDay Squad, so a player is only ever 1 position.

**How can I check what position a player is?**

Coaches can see a player's position from the icon on the front of the Player Card, as well as by flipping over to the back of the card.
