# What's New for 2026/27

What to expect for the first kick off of the 2026/27 Gridiron season.

Gridiron is here. The Squad has spent the off season building our first American football game from the ground up, and it plays unlike anything else on the platform. Here is what you need to know before Round 1.

**A field unlike anything else on the platform**

Gridiron is the first GameDay Squad sport with no bench. All 18 of your players are on the field and all 18 are scoring, and two of those slots are flexible.

* **Superflex:** play a QB, RB, WR or TE
* **Flex:** play a RB, WR or TE, across five slots

**Two brand new special competitions**

* **Rookie & Sophomore:** only players from the 2026 and 2025 draft classes
* **Primetime:** only the standalone games, played Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Tuesday AEST

**Over $32,000 in cash prizes**

Cash is on offer in six of our seven competitions every single round, on top of pack prizes reaching as deep as 100th place in Classic. Seasonal cash goes to the winner of Contender, Classic, Challenger and Champion, topping out at $2,500.

* **Player Statuses:** see at a glance whether a player is Available, Questionable, Out, on a Bye, on Injury Reserve, Suspended, Ineligible or Inactive
