The team has been hard at work creating more additions and improvements ahead of the new season to make this one the best season yet!
Some of the big gameplay changes for 2025 include: Starter Pack Cards: In 2025 we will be changing and increasing the starter pack allocation for new users from 51 cards to 153 cards. We anticipate that increasing the starter player card pack allotment upon sign up will make it fairer and easier for new users to onboard. Below is the positional breakdown for how the cards will be distributed:
DEF: 45 (5x9) MID: 45 (5x9) RUCK: 18 (2x9) FWD: 45 (5x9)
Introducing the Contender Competition – New for Season 2025!
Designed specifically for new coaches, the Contender Competition lets you compete for prizes at your own pace, without the pressure of facing seasoned veterans. Coaches already participating in the Challenger or Champion Competitions are not eligible to enter, creating a level playing field for newcomers to learn, earn, and grow.
But don’t be fooled—there’s still plenty of strategy involved. With a strict $12 million salary cap, how will you build your team? Will you splash out on a Gold player, or spread your budget across a squad of Bronze and Silver talent? The choice is yours, and the possibilities are endless.
Get ready to discover tactics, test your skills, and enjoy the thrill of competition—your journey starts here.
Player Card Rarity Restrictions/Competition Structure
As part of our ongoing commitment to improve the GameDay Squad experience, we are updating the competition structure to make it more accessible, balanced, and strategically rewarding for all coaches—especially those just starting their journey.
Following the recent Contender competition launch, we’re excited to introduce Part 2 of this rollout: Changes to Competition Rules specifically card rarity restrictions.
