Player Pool Rules
The 2025 GameDay Squad Rugby League player pools are carefully curated to enhance the user experience in GameDay Squad fantasy sports as well as simplifying and improving the onboarding experience for new users. This document explains the process behind refining these player pools.
How the Player Pools Are Decided
Focusing on Relevant Players
The player pool is designed to include players who are most likely to have an impact during the pre-season and minimising redundancy where possible. This reduces the chances of users receiving cards for players who are inactive or unlikely to play.
Dynamic Updates Over Pre-Season and Season
Pre-Season Selection: During the pre-season months, active rosters and likely starters are evaluated to build the final player pools.
In-Season Adjustments: Throughout the season, players who begin to feature in games are dynamically added to the pool, ensuring an up-to-date selection of active talent.
The player pool is designed to remain flexible, adapting to the dynamics of the pre-season. This approach:
Encourages users to stay engaged as the player pool evolves.
Keeps the fantasy experience fresh by introducing new talent throughout the pre-season.
Ensures fairness by focusing on players who are active and contributing.
Player Pool Rules:
If a player who is inactive on the GameDay Squad platform then plays in the league, they will be made active in the GameDay Squad player pool.
A player who will miss the entirety/rest of the season due to retirement, injury, code swap or league change will be made inactive.
Full Squads will be added to the Rugby League player pools in the March 2025 player pool update (excluding long term injuries).
Inactive player cards can still be bought, sold and traded.
It is important to note: The active player pool is different from the bronze player card pool
