Standard Competitions
There are 4 standard competitions that coaches can enter in via the competitions tab.

Starter
Salary Cap: 5.5mil
Rarities Allowed: Bronze Only
Special Card Limit: 0
Special Rules: None
Restrictions: None
The Starter Competition is designed specifically for coaches who are brand new to GameDay Squad. This competition uses Bronze player cards only, meaning that no cards which can be bought or sold can be used. This ensures every coach competes on an even playing field, with equal access to the same pool of player cards.
These restrictions also mean that only new coaches are eligible to participate. This allows newcomers to learn the ropes, experiment with lineups, and experience the platform in a fair and beginner friendly environment without having to face more experienced coaches right away. At the same time, coaches can battle it out for pack prizes that will help them take the next step up as they progress through GameDay Squad’s competitions.
Classic
Salary Cap: 7.5mil
Rarities Allowed: Silver, Gold, Platinum and Special Cards
Special Card Limit: 1 (1 Prize Card limit)
Special Rules: None
Restrictions: None
The Classic Competition is the core competition of GameDay Squad and is designed for every coach on the platform, regardless of experience. It is the only competition without restrictions, meaning every coach competes in the same round, creating the largest and most inclusive competition across the platform. New coaches can achieve success with a smart game plan, while veteran coaches must rely on strategy and decision-making rather than just the size of their collections.
In this open format, every coach can build and play their best possible squad while experiencing everything GameDay Squad has to offer. The competition also introduces special cards, and Platinum cards providing exceptional value and impact without being difficult to acquire. Combined with strong cash prizes and pack rewards, the Classic Competition is one that every coach will want to win.
The Classic Competition also serves as a gateway to GameDay Squad’s most exciting events, as results here determine qualification for the Cup Competition, giving every coach the chance to earn their place on an even bigger stage.
Challenger
Salary Cap: 8.5mil
Rarities Allowed: Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Legends and Special Cards
Special Card Limit: 3 (1 Prize Card limit)
Special Rules: None
Restrictions: None
The Challenger Competition is designed for coaches who are moving beyond the beginner stage and want to make the most of their growing collections. In this competition, special cards take centre stage, allowing coaches to work within the salary cap while maximising the scoring potential of their squads.
It’s the first competition where Diamond and Legend cards can be played. While the salary cap prevents coaches from fielding too many top-tier rarities, finding the right mix of talent remains key. Strategic use of All Star cards can make all the difference, helping coaches build balanced, competitive squads that showcase the depth of their collections.
Champion
Salary Cap: None
Rarities Allowed: Platinum, Diamond, Legends and Special Cards
Special Card Limit: None
Special Rules: None
Restrictions: None
The Champion Competition is the highest level of play on GameDay Squad. It is reserved for the most experienced who have mastered every aspect of the game. This is where the elite Legend cards reign supreme, and only the strongest collections are capable of competing at the very top.
Coaches compete for significant cash rewards and the prestigious first three picks in the Prize Card Draft as part of the seasonal prizes. With the largest salary cap on the platform, coaches must use all their skill and strategy to build balanced, high scoring squads that can perform week after week.
While top tier player cards can give you an advantage, true success comes from strategic thinking, smart salary cap management, and selecting the right players at the right time. The Champion Competition is where the very best coaches prove their ability and cement their place among the elite.
